The Sandwell Goes Public show at The Public in West Bromwich was a resounding success, raising over £1,800 for the Mayor's charity, SSAFA. It was a night of true variety performed by Sandwell Council employees (and friends), with anything from heavy rock to poetry.
Our 15-minute set seemed to go down well with the 200+ audience, which included the mayors of Sandwell and several other local boroughs. We had a few nervous moments on our opening song Impersonating Elvis, including my microphone almost falling off the mic stand during the first verse! But hopefully the Elvis jacket I wore for the song took the focus away from any minor hitches!? We were really pleased with how Dolphins went and, as ever, enjoyed I learned to disco in San Francisco, which I dedicated to Andrea Law (Jones), a work colleague who has recently moved to California with her husband Mike.
Thanks to Mike Turner and Ian Rogers for playing - and to all friends, family and work colleagues who came to support.
