GRADUATION DAY
Now the storm has died down,
There is silence all around.
All the faces that we've known,
Are either gone or fully grown.
The holiday is over now,
Yet still the dreams remain.
Those days will come again,
In my head.
It's so hard to find my way, oh.
From my graduation day.
Now the birds have been set free,
The mists of uncertainty,
Transcend our future lives,
Descend to cloud our eyes.
The hands of fate take over,
Cries of "Remember me".
Those days will always be,
In my dreams.
And I'm still trying to find my way, oh,
From my graduation day.
And I know I'll find my way, ah,
From my graduation day, ah,
And I start to make my way, ah,
From my graduation day.
The future starts today.

CINEMATIC EYES
You glance at me from the cover of Sky magazine,
As if to ask me exactly where I've been,
While you were getting famous, appearing on TV,
And catching everybody's eye.
Your face now graces a thousand bedroom walls,
I read it's films now, that Hollywood calls,
Scorcese's cast you in your first big movie role,
Still catching everybody's eye.
Looking at me with those cinematic eyes,
Knowing the dreams we hide behind our ordinary lives.
Staring at me from beyond the big screen,
Knowing everything that we could have been.
De Niro's taking you out for dinner tonight,
Your film opens here, we see your name in lights.
It's strange to think it started all those years ago,
Just acting with your friends back home.
Looking down from the height of fame,
Everyone knows your face and everybody knows your name.
Changing roles each film but now a superstar,
But do you know any more, do you know who you really are?
You come home to see your friends and family,
But things have changed, people treat you differently,
But I guess that that's the price of fame.
Looking at me with those cinematic eyes,
Knowing the dreams we hide behind our ordinary lives.
Looking down from the height of fame,
Everyone knows your face and everybody knows your name.
Staring at me from beyond the big screen,
Knowing everything that we could have been.
THE GARDEN OF THE DREAM
Once I dreamt that I was locked inside your head,
And I discovered all the things you'd never said.
You lead me through scenes and venues of your past,
Your first kiss, your last.
Turned the corner, you were wearing a disguise,
But when you took the mask away, it came as now surprise.
Then we were surrounded by the lovers we had lost,
And suddenly I woke up.
Driving through your town in the middle of the night,
And realise that there's a face behind each light.
Into the garden of the dream.
Perpetual sunshine and a flowing stream,
Where nothing ever died,
And you were always lying by my side.
I began to doubt the truth of this scene,
And so embarked upon a further searching dream.
I explored each and every avenue,
But all I found was you.
Running through your streets in the middle of the night,
And recognise that there's a life behind each light.
Into the garden of the dream,
Where gates open onto a perfect scene,
Where no one ever lies,
And you are always lying by my side.
Into the garden of the dream.
Perpetual sunshine and a flowing stream,
Where nothing ever dies,
And you are always lying by my side.
I awake with a renewed sense of fear,
That you have left for good, no longer near,
But I discover a new reality,
That you'll always be with me.
A STRANGER IN MY HEART
I won't forget the night,
You came knocking at my door.
You were cold and wet,
But soon your clothes were scattered on the floor.
You were the child I'd always known,
Now fully grown,
You'd always been the one I had loved.
You stood there by the fire,
Your skin was warm, your eyes were filled with desire.
And on the mantlepiece a photograph of you when you were young.
You were the child I'd always known,
Now fully grown,
I did not have the heart to send you home.
Here, now, together.
Here, now, forever.
Right from the very start,
You've been a stranger in my heart.
You've always been a stranger in my heart.
We used to play together,
Until your mom said it was too late to play out in the dark.
You feel the scars on my shoulder,
And we remember the day that I fell in the park.
You were there as you are here now,
It's so strange how,
Our lives keep merging into one.
And now our hearts beat as one.
Here, now, together.
Here, now, forever.
Right from the very start,
You've been a stranger in my heart.
You've always been a stranger in my heart.
BLIND FAITH
Have you ever felt the air of daybreak?
Have you taken all the chances you could take?
Have you ever seen the birds fly high in the sky,
Taken their leave and said goodbye?
We're changing, oh changing,
We've said goodbye to innocence and all it entails.
A new era is hailed, but love still prevails,
'Cause we're holding the dream alive,
Hoping our love can survive,
The change in our lives.
Blind faith.
Could you not see the truth in her eyes.
Blind faith.
Could you not see behind the mask of lies.
Blind faith.
Calling into question all you said,
All the times you've been misled,
All the broken promises that you could be her only true friend.
Holding onto memories of when she was by your side,
But now you've no sense of pride,
Since she walked out of your life,
Though you're still burning a dampened flame,
No regrets, no more blame,
As our lives begin to change.
Have you ever felt the air of daybreak?
Have you taken all the chances you could take?
Jealousy and hopeless dreams will get you nowhere,
We must find a way to find freedom today.
We're changing, oh changing,
We've said goodbye and farewell to innocence,
No more lies, no pretence,
It's time to move on.
Blind faith.
Blind faith.
Blind faith.
Can you see the birds high above.
Blind faith.
They are singing the sweet songs of love.
Blind faith.
WITNESS TO LOVE
When the slow songs come on I start to cry.
I sit alone with no-one to say goodbye.
Why is it always me who's left with nobody?
I don't know, but I'd say they think I'm happier this way.
On the dancefloor but I can't dance,
I see you staring at me but I won't give love a chance.
What if you don't love me, but what if you do?
I'll never know, I've no sense and no self-confidence.
I'm a witness to love but I know that's not enough,
I want to have more than just good friends.
It's just a matter of time, but I want you to be mine,
I just hope that I'm not one of your loose ends.
When you smile at me, I tend to look away,
But I don't mean it, I want to look at you the same way.
But I'm so nervous, I have no self esteem,
Another shattered dream that you could be with me.
I'm a witness to love and it's doing me no good,
How do I pretend to act less shy?
Tell me why should I wait, why do I hestitate?
At least you might try to understand why.
When the party is over, I still feel alone.
No one to kiss goodnight, no one to walk home.
Why is always me who looks after the drinks, while everyone else is getting off,
All I can do is stare and think, why not me?
I'm a witness to love, I am so misunderstood,
No one seems to know how much I care.
I'm just trying to find the right time, 'cause you're always on my mind,
But perhaps I'm too afraid of a love affair.
I'm a witness to love, but I know that's not enough,
How must I decide to change my ways?
I don't want to miss that first kiss, perhaps it's my only wish,
That you will be mine one of these days.
Oh, I'm a witness to love.
A witness to love.
A witness to love.
